EMD 545b Biosafety, Biosecurity, and the Evaluation of Biohazards...

The relatively new course is entering its 5th year. Dr. Curtis Patton asked OEHS to prepare this course for EPH students to: Provide an awareness of the profession of Biological Safety w/in the discipline of Occupational Health and Safety; To demonstrate safe practices (to protect themselves and others) for those EPH students who may end up handling infectious agents in the laboratory or field as a vocation; and To provide those EPH students who will end up in a career in Public Health with the foundation of biological safety as public health officials who may have to respond to emergencies, participate in outbreak investigations or investigations of lab-acquired infections, and also to provide those who may manage organizations with employees at risk – so they know what their employees should be doing to protect themselves.
